A friend told me today that the Dewalt 435 planer had a bearing problem and they replaced it with the 435A with an improved bearing at the beginning of the year. Unfornately, I bought my 435 last December.
Is anyone familar with this problem? How does it manifest itself?

I do not have that planer, but this is news to me... I have not heard of anything on any of the forums I visit, and I visit quite a few. Not saying it does not exist, but it's possible. I have not even seen any refurbed units out there, which would have indicated that there have been a few returns on the planer.
I can pay retail anywhere, so how's your service?
