    Built this 2 years ago

I usually hang out in the laser forum but since I have been a woodworker for more than 30 years I thought I might start posting a few of my projects. I built this entertainment center 2 years ago. It is based on a project in American Woodworker, just much larger. This one is 118 inches long and 72 inches tall. The TV space is 68 inches wide to hold a 65 inch projection screen TV (yes that’s me sitting in the opening). It is made of mostly birch plywood with cherry fronts. It was stained with Watco cherry Danish oil then finished with lacquer. I priced it way too low (lost my butt on it) but it is the most challenging and fun project I have done in years.
    More to come later.

    very nice.

after two years of putting tv stuff in all those drawers would you have changed anything in the design?

Very nice job. I like the doors and the drawers very much. So much space in that unit. Would you ever be able to move something that big? Or did you make it modular?

The unit is actually 10 separate pieces so moving it is just a mater of disassembling it. None of the pieces are really heavy by themselves, just large. My customer did have me come back and install a power vent fan to cool his Blue Ray, and sound system. He has filled it with all manor of collectables. I must gloat though that every time I am over there I admire it. It really is a very nice piece of furniture.

Nice job, Randy. Overall, the piece(s) has a nice balance (or at least it did until you sat in the middle!), and that is sometimes hard to achieve with that many drawers/doors and openings.

Nice color match, and good result!!
