    yet another floor finish question....

    Gang,
I've used Waterlox Original on a cherry floor before (office & will be using in formal dining room); however, we're looking for something that will dry MUCH faster, & with more abrasion & scratch resistance for the foyer, family room & upstairs (bedrooms & hallway).

The floor will be either White Oak or Red Oak (solid 4") to replace the existing carpet.

One wood floor distributor likes The Vermeister finishes.

I've seen references to Bona finishes here.

Has anyone used Basic Coating's Street Shoe (specifically the 275) & any of the sealers?

I like the specs for their Emulsion sealer as a way to make the grain pop a bit more than a neutral stain would; however, they talk about "tannin pull".

We definitely want to go with a water based poly for the top coat due to quicker drying times & less stink.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

You used their original finish; you should try their floor finish.

    No top coat needed.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
