    Best saw for resaw

I need to do some resawing for some handplanes I'm building, but the only saws I have are LN dovetail/carcass and a couple of old Disstons that are in need of rehab.

Ultimately, I'll build a good bowsaw, but until then, can someone recommend a good saw for resawing? I'm mainly looking for the best type. I'm thinking a Japanese saw may be the best bet...

    Thanks!

Very narrow set 4.5 to 8 ppi veneer or resaw framed saw, and beeswax on the blade.

Video here. This was the first time Don had ever used a frame saw!

Why a very narrow set is better, the blade doesn't flop or wallow around in the kerf and follows a line very easily.

Hand tools are very modern- they are all cordless
NORMAL is just a setting on the washing machine.

I think that your old disston would work great after rehabing! If you are in need of a saw in a hurry, a Japanese Ryoba saw could also work good. I do all of my resawing with regular disston saws, but I,m in need of a saw like Jr. showed here!
