    Which Plane to Use?

Would you use a #5 or #7 as a smoother for this tabletop?

I was going to get it, but I didn't see the "Buy Now" button.

I hoping it doesn't end up as a coporate boardroom table. Those guys would request it with dark walnut stain globbed on.

i think that is an old article... i beleive i read somewhere awhile ago that it became the table in a winery. and that they put a nice finish on it, not some junky stain

The "Add to Cart" button is on the website. For a $100K it's yours.,

I would have bought it but they only had one. I mean, I'd have to have one to practice on...

This one is still available - the winery was a 20 footer.

The title of the post isn't quite accurate. The largest piece of solid wood in the world is probably the Sequoia called General Sherman. It is 275 feet tall and 102 feet in circumference at the ground. It is calculated to contain 630,000 board feet.

Why is it that $100K sounds so much less than $100,000.00?

The wonderful world of marketing. The same reason $24.99 is supposed to sound better than $25.00

One of our local retailers had a big slab of kauri. As far as color and grain it has very little character to it. I'd prefer to have a nice slab of quilted bubinga for a table.
