Festool Gloat

I haven't had a gloat in a long, long time but now I have a little one.

I have to thank the one and only Tyler Howell for it. If it wasn't for his kindness and his visit a couple of evenings ago I wouldn't be able to gloat. Thanks Tyler.

Oh, yeah, the gloat. I got a Festool catalog! Woo Hoo! Actually, thanks to Mr. Spring Green, I have permission and even encouragement from my bride to add some Festool green to my shop. The catalog is the first step. I think John and Tyler are in cahoots.

Dave, good for you! A catalog is a start. I'm up to five Festool pieces, (and counting!) plus a number of Festool gifts, courtesy of Uncle Bob! Oh, and the LOYL has good taste, BTW!

As for the Dewalt, I have a bit of an "update" on that, too. Having run many, many brd/ft. of material through it, mostly kinda' scrappy lookin' hardwoods, I needed to flip the blades. Wow! The entire process, first time ever, took all of 15 minutes, start to finish! And man, does the chip extraction work! When I popped the cover to get to the business end of the machine, it was clean as a whistle in there! Pretty extraordinary, I'd say!

Isn't it a whole lot easier to get the LOYL on board when she sees how good the DC is on the Festool? I am remodeling our kitchen and that means drywall re-work and dust. LOML had already seen the impact of said DC so is comfortable with me sanding away. A buddy came over to help last night just as I was finishing a sanding session with the Rotex, which he had never seen before. "What is that thing?" he asks. I didn't say a word, just wiped my finger over the surface, and showed him what wasn't there. My wife was LOL. "It's my secret weapon," I said. "Now I gotta kill ya!"

John, that's good news on the DeWalt planer. My brother told me I should buy the Dewalt and give him my Ridgid planer. He told me that would be a good deal for me. I'm still ciphering his math.

We've decided Ian has outgrown the cradle and it has become the ark for his stuffed critters. I'm looking for the next boat to build. I've narrowed it down to either this:

7'9" pram (this one was built by a buddy of mine.)
or

14'11" Hardanger faering inspired boat.

Greg, I've got to do some work in the kitchen, too. She'll probably decide she needs to keep the extractor.

Hey, Ditto on the DW planer. Don't even have to turn the DC on. It moves more air on its own than the 650 CFM Jet.
