OK looks like if you click on the gallery link for a member you get the message below. If you click on the gallery link for a contributer you either go to the gallery or you go to a page that states that there is no gallery for that person.
So I guess my account is working right after all.

When trying to view a member's gallery I got the following message:
Richard Dooling, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
- If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I know I'm up to date on my dues.
