The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
6" Central Machinery, I think... It doesn't even have a brand stamp on it. It looks just like all of the other CM stuff though.
It's my first jointer, I have brand new Freud knives installed. It took me a while to get the knives right. In fact, I should probably check them again. My boards look pretty good when I edge or face joint.
Not too bad for $160.

I have a feeder on my 16" jointer for the reasons you mention. If I'm running something like full length 6/4 oak it saves me from quite a workout. For case pieces I would rather mark the whole thing out in chalk and cut the boards down before jointing & planing. I don't think I have used the feeder in nearly a year.
6 inch jet does the job for me

I have 2 as some others do. I have an 8" Grizzly G0500 and a 12" G0634 combo j/p with a spiral head. I like having both in the shop.

Just remember that men tend to exaggerate the size of their jointers. I think medically verified results would be a bit lower.
