    Shaker Table joinery questions?

I am in the process of building a small shaker table with a drawer for a night stand to get in some practise with M/T's. My question is about the front drawer rails (top and bottom). They are 1/2" thick by 3/4" wide. The top rail I am going to make a dovetail key in the top of the legs. The bottom rail is my issue. The tennon is 1" long and is going to run into the bottom of the side stretcher tenon that is 1" long. Should I just cut the side strectcher tenon and bottom rail tenon at a 45 where the are going to meet?

That's what I'd do, Tony; just make sure they miss each other by at least a bit (1/16" of so should do.) Careful layout should tell you how long to make each tenon.
