“Perhaps then, you will say, ‘But where can one have a boat like that built today?’ And I will tell you that there are still some honest men who can sharpen a saw, plane, or adze...men (who) live and work in out of the way places, but that is lucky, for they can acquire materials for one third of city prices. Best, some of these gentlemen’s boatshops are in places where nothing but the occasional honk of a wild goose will distract them from their work.” -- L Francis Herreshoff

The mustang one I found funny(not that the others were not). At one point I had a few cars that I would race trhough the SCCA and one that I would show(all VW's). I had a 1990 VW Corrado G-60(super charged) that I had over 300HP in....true 300 at the wheels(tested via Dyno). The car was bright yellow and looked mean...and sounded mean. I pulled up to a stop light one day and next to me pulled a 5.0 Mustang(or is that Rustang....) He looked at me and pointed straight ahead....he had a few girls with him and they were all laughing and pointing. The light changed and we were off....Mustang never got within a car lenght of me(other then right off the start). When we came to a stop they just looked the other way.....

I ran this baby in the low 11's in the qrt mile. Problem was that I broke the front drive shafts on a regular basis do to a large qty of torque...

I was lucky....never had a ticket or an accident. I rarely ran her hard on the main streets...mostly on the track.

    Now I sell insurance.....

They were all pretty good, but I sure do wish I'd have seen the "Old Pete Forum"!
