    I need a magnetic switch

    Hi All,

I'm in the process of restoring and OLD joiner and need a switch. It has a 19 amp single phase 220V motor. Does anyone know where I can get one used or inexpensively? The motor shop near me said new it would be $130.

I tried searching on ebay and got nothing so I thing I need different key words. I used "magnetic switch" and "eletric motor starter."

The gentleman at the motor shop talked about heaters and other things that were beyond my knowledge base.

If I can't find one considerably cheaper I'll bite the bullet and get it locally. I want the magnetic switch for safety reasons. I really don't want it to start when it is plugged it if the switch was bumped.

    Charles,

Grizzly sells these switches...should be under $70. Search over there.

    Thanks guys,

The griz will work. My uncle wants to get a bandsaw so we might have to make a little road trip.

It is for a 16" Cresent joiner. It came with a 3hp motor, no pulley, no switch. The motor is huge! I built a base to attach the motor to.

Pics will follow when it runs. Really expensive scrap iron does not count as a gloat. At this rate I should have went and bought a DJ20 or one of those combo machines.

    Thanks again,
    Chuck
