Here is how to magnify your computer screen

My eyes are getting old and weak. Therefore, I use the commands that Bill Gates gave us. There are two different ones that I like to use.

    1. Hold the control key down and roll the roller on your mouse away from you. Each click on the mouse roller magnifies the screen a little bit. Keep rolling until the screen display is as big as you like. Of course, rolling the mouse toward you will make the screen display smaller.

    2. This F11 function key command will remove the junk menus from the screen giving you a full screen. This is especially helpful is you plan to stay on one website for quite a while. The menus will return momentarily if you move your mouse arrow to the top of the screen. Hit F11 again and the menus come back.

Try it, you will like it.

As an alternative, <CTRL> + <Numeric Keypad PLUS>. I find it a bit easier than using a cranky wheel on an old mouse... To make it smaller, <CTRL> <Minus>

Does this only work on webpages? Doesn't seem to work on SMC.

    BTW, Lee, nice new avatar.

Jim, while the Ctrl-scroll seems to have been adopted by a number of pieces of software for increasing font size (I think it is actually zooms on both Photoshop and Sketchup, so it isn't 100%), it is usually controlled by the program you are running. What browser are you using?

I'd also note, for those with bad eyes, that there is a accessibility option in the Windows control panel that will use high contrast fonts if checked.

I'm not sure who originated these commands

but they work in ubuntu Linux, Open Office & FireFox as well.

If you are using Firefox, and who wouldn't be, use Ctrl+(Ctrl and Plus sign) to make bigger, Ctr- (Ctrl and Minus sign) to make smaller. Use Ctrl0 (Ctrl and Zero) to go back to where the web designer had it.

Either that or go to Control Panel and change the font size that Windows uses for *everything*.

    OR get new glasses!

I'm using MS Internet Explorer. Funny, if I do it while looking at Ralph Barhorst's post, the Tipp City under his sig gets bigger but nothing else. Works in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.

Sill gooses (I mean geese), you have it all wrong. Stop using keys on your keyboard and buttons on your mouse to make your screen bigger. Actually MAKE your screen BIGGER! I have my computer hooked up to my 65" plasma... It don't get much bigger than that!

Similar in the Mac world. On the new laptops you put two fingers together on the touchpad and move them apart to make things bigger, move them back together to make things smaller.
