    Walnut Hollow Form

This walnut came from a neighbor's walnut tree. It was rough turned green, DNA and dried. I then returned it at 11 1/2" wide, 6 !/2" high and 1 1/2" opening, it was a challenge. Finish: 6 coats of antique oil. All comments and critiques welcome.

Excellent! Love the form and the curly walnut! Doesn't get much better than that!

That does look like it would be a challenge to hollow, but you have done an excellent job on this piece.

    Ron,

Nice job, very nice form. Curves are well done and the top is perfect. Good work.

Ron - GREAT piece! Really like the form, and as Mark noted, the top/entry is very nice.

The fact that you rough turned it, dried it and finish turned it with that small an opening is impressive to me. Great job with the shape also.

Very N-I-C-E. Really like the shape of the opening. How long did you let it soak in the DNA - and then how long to dry before you finish turned it?

Great job, no wonder it was a challenge hollowing through a small hole on a large form

I was never all that thrilled with walnut outside of flat work but after seeing this and some of the other walnut turnings around here, I'm SOLD! Just ran across an old walnut grove a couple days ago with lots of new trees so I'm guessing they'll be replacing more and more of the old soon. Gotta find the farmer that owns the place now!

    Beautiful work Ron!
