    Walnut Rocker - Maloof Style

I just completed a rocker I've been working on for a few months.
The plans are from Charles Brock.
A few of us have been doing a group build. For the hobbyists, there's a lot of good info here if you ever want to try yr hand at it.

I will rub the gloss down in a few weeks.

Stunning Shawn! My only complaint is that I'm not kicked back in it right now. Man I am going to build one of those one day!

    Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Shawn, I am so happy for you! I can see all those decisions you made along the way, from the original choice of walnut, to the asymetrical grain choices in the headrest and seat. When everything is sculpted so completely and intentionally, it all works.

I love the creative work on the striped plugs, the chatoyance and your waterlox finish. On my walnut table I kept on going with the micromesh until it was what I wanted. You have even more depth to bring out in the rubbing out a month from now.

Congratulations. And - it is a great idea also to start this thread with the finished product so people can see it freshly without looking through hundreds of posts first.

    Woooooooooo Hoooooooooo!

    Sincerely,

    Brian

Really nice Shawn, the progress you made in a couple of short months is unreal. VERY nice rocker, and the finish really comlements the walnut and the rest of the chair.

    Shawn,
Congratulations on building such a beautiful chair. I think you are going to inspire someone to build a chair of their own.

    Congratulations - job well done

    Shawn,
Congratulations on your completed chair. I've followed most of your journey and can appreciate all of the obstacles you and others have shared and overcome. The thread you started, when deciding to undertake this project, has certainly helped with the inspiration and progress of many.

Again, job well done, enjoy your chair...Doug

Beautiful work, Shawn. A real heirloom. Any idea how many hours it took?
