Ten Year Old Cherry Stump 1st Yield

Standing 11" tall and 4-1/4" wide at the base, completely hollow wall thicknes is 3/8" base. Finish is Dainish Oil.
I find it amazing i can produce some thing like this after only 6 months of turning.

Pretty wood, and a pleasing shape. Well done Eric.

great job, I can't believe that cherry came out looking like that. Was it not cracked after the first few inches?

Beautiful cherry, and cheers on the turning. I too found a cherry stump--actually an entire root ball a couple years ago that had been sitting out in a field after being uprooted. It was very similar in color and pattern to yours. Mine had bark inclusions which look very similar to the brown areas in yours. I wish I had several more stumps like that one!!

Man that's some purdy wood! I've yet to turn any cherry but would sure love too! I'm not even sure if there's any in my area so I might need to find something West Coast exclusive for some barter power!

That's what I'm talkin' about!! I've got one like that waiting in the woods for me later this spring, but not quite as large--maybe 4.5' across, but just as much central rot. I took down the tree a few years ago and milled it before it uprooted completely. Lots of future turning wood left in the stump.

Eric, that is some beautiful wood, and you did a great job on this one. I recall your thread on the stump, and it was worth the effort.
