Question Should I buy this Grizzly G1182 jointer?

I have the opportunity to buy a Grizzly 6" jointer Model G1182 for $115. I haven't seen it yet.
    What should I look for?
Do you think this is a good Jointer?
    Is this a good price?

    Thanks
    Dennis

(not sure how I'm going to fit it in my shop, a two car garage stuffed with tools & even, on occasion, my wife's car)

Yes you should buy it. I have had an 1182Z with levers for several years and never had any problems with it.

That's a very well proven jointer that Wood Mag rated the #1 6" jointer in Sept 2001. It came from the same factory in Taiwan as the former Jet, GI, Bridgewood, Woodtek, Sunhill, and others. $115 is about half of what I'd consider a fair price if it's in good shape.

Look for overall condition, check that the beds are coplaner and that the fence is flat. Turn the cutterhead and listen to the bearings....bearings are replaceable, bad tables or bent fence are much more difficult to fix.

Ditto Scott.. if it is in good working order he (or she) could get twice that for the jointer. I had a Sunhill from the same line that I worked hard for 4 years before up-grading to an 8". That jointer is still working hard about 8 miles from me for the gentleman I sold it to for $275.

BTW.. if that model has the wheels as I suspect.. that would be a plus for me personally as I much perfer them over levers.

    Good luck...

+1 on a good deal. The motor is worth about half of that amount alone.

$115 is not a bad price at all. But, it doesn't hurt to see if there is any wiggle room at $90 or $100! But, if you really need a 6" jointer, jump on it at $115. Better hurry! By the time CL buyers ask for advice here at SMC, the bargain is usually long gone!
