    hey guys a friend showed video me this thought it was pretty cool.

    i thought about making one but i would have to be a baby band saw because i dont have much room.

    Decades ago I built a wooden bandsaw using a Gilman kit. It actually worked well. It was never stiff enough, and after a few years it was clear that I should have laminated the main column with steel plate or a more hardwood. Also, plywood case work should have been hardwood. But I remember it with great affection.
    This guys bandsaw is very attractive, but his column is woefully small. It will vibrate quite badly. Increasing tension will distort the structure and the drift angle will change. The only answer is to raise the resonant frequency by stiffening it up.
    If you want to make a little one ... maybe with 3 wheels ... it would be a dandy project.

    Yeah, well look at his finger around the 4:45 mark and see how stupid he almost was resawing that 4 inch piece. Guess it helps to have the thing heavy enough to not move when resawing.
