Dust Collector help please

Looking at the following dust collectors.

I only have about $400.00 I can spend, and right now I have no D.C. It will be attached to the tools as they are used, not a central system.

Any feedback or suggestions? I am just starting and do not have the cash for the cyclone systems.

if you can go 450. this will be a more powerful and healthier system. the filter is the healthy part.

You can also find a Delta 50-760 for little under $400. It's a 1.5 hp 110v DC, but has a great fan curve, and usually comes out on top of the single-stage DC derby. It comes with a 1 micron bag, plus it is easy to fit with a Wynn cannister filter.

I am happy with my HF dust collectors I have the 1 hp unit on my old cnc and the 2 hp on my new cnc both work very well I did make the Thien separator. for them

+1 on the Delta 50-760. It has been top rated by FWW, Wood and others in OBJECTIVE head to head tests against its peers. I own it.

It comes stock with a 1 micron filter bag, which is really critical for catching the fine dust. Do not settle for a 2.5 or 5.0 micron collector. You and your nose aqnd your lungs will be disappointed. There really are huge differences between these single stage units.

Owned 5 different DC's now and this one is the best of them to date IMO. If you want the cannister it's higher @ $399 but still around the budget you using.
I'd bag it and maybe get some ducting. Or just save the extra cash.

If you can get one in your budget, grab a Delta 50-760, they always come out on top of the single stage DC tests. Maybe retrofit it with a Wynn filter for some added filtration / air flow and you are set!

I have the HF 2HP DC, it works okay, but I have it fitted with the Wynn 35A, I am on the lookout for a Delta 50-760 in my price range and I guarantee the HF will get sold...

I found the delta-50-760 at Tool King for $369.95 with FREE ground shipping. Anybody know of a better price?? How is Tool King to deal with?? I have never used them. Home Depot had a great online only sale but they are out of stock

Good price from Tool King. Grab it. As for 6" ducting that is really a non-issue. Most non-commercial woodworking machines come with 4" ports and the Delta has two 4" ports. In any event you will be using one machine at a time. You will get good results. Some day you may want to upgrade by adding a Thien separator to reduce the load on your filter. I don't have one
but lots of fellows on the Creek do and it is a simple upgrade.

If I were in your shoes I would drop $60 for an Oneida Dust Deputy and another $100 or so for a decent shop vac and save the rest to put toward a full size cyclone system. Oneida sells the kits that include a bucket, mounting brackets and hose for $99 but I can come up with those things cheaper than $40.

I concur on the hose on the PSI - it's to restrictive and decreases flow. Solution is quite simple - incorporate the Thien and the vertical mount setup as discussed on forum here last few days and add a lot more cfm and ease in clean up too with the trash can under it. I'm sure they all would benefit from it at that but the PSI even moreso as it's rated right there with the Grizz 1029Z for most flow even restricted as it is. Open it up and the Mazda ad comes to mind ...vrooooooooooooooooooom
I think with the better bags and being less noisy it continues to win my vote but that's to be expected to since I now run one. Or rather 2 of them in 2 shops.

Grizz is a nice unit too - they need to toss on better bags. Mine was an older 1029 and not the Z series which is better unit by all accounts. Based on my experience with many of what they tested I'd say they spot on mostly __ 'cept I'd reverse the Penn and Grizz for bags, noise and fact the small difference advantage to Grizz in cfm is eliminated in a vertical mount. Toss a coin I guess - they both winners in my book.

Edited - why or how is the Grizz rated on top of the Penn with all the "B"' ratings when Penn had A's?????? Another quirk - they have the Penn listed at same noise level as Grizz. Hello - I've tested mine and other magazines have also Penn rated about same as mine --- I show 69db at 5' away. They have said 68 to 71. This article says 80's - thats bull winkle poo poo. Used to have to turn up radio when I ran other dc's - don't have to with this one. Makes me wonder about the whole test now ....... to bad just a slight error makes one think all may be tainted. At least they put the Grizz there and not the HF I guess. Nothing against the HF at that but ......
