    Talking Creeker Visit Today!

Creeker Kurt Baker just happened to be in the area this holiday and stopped in this afternoon for the traditional shop tour and we even managed a little lathe time!

I am giving a demo Tuesday evening at our turning club on hollowing basics and wanted to get a blank roughed out to take with me. Kurt gave me a hand and got to try out my Doug Thompson/Monster Handle gouges. I like to think he had some fun making curlies in the process - I know I did!

Thanks for stopping in Kurt! Hope next time you can stay longer! Was a lot of fun!

    Wow! What an afternoon!

Wow! What an afternoon! This was much more than a shop tour! It was a very cool shop tour combined with a tool demo, lessons, and a glimpse at Hollow Form Heaven.

My mind was spinning with ideas as Steve graciously showed me tip after tip, ranging from shop setup to the proper use of gouges, and even how to sharpen them.

The vortex seemed to tug even harder as I left: I have added a Jet 1642, some Doug Thompson gouges, and a Monster hollowing system to the wish list. Even higher on the list is my wish to return to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the chance to spend more time with Steve & Colleen.

Many thanks, Steve & Colleen, for the afternoon. And many thanks, SMC, for the introduction!

Sounds like a great visit, and Kurt has developed an excellent shopping list with Steve's "help!"

Steve, if Kurt comes back, you may need to raise that ceiling height a little!

Congrats Fellas. Good times and someone deeper into the vortex. Now that's fun.
