The whole left quarter of this cabinet is a false front, covering a cold air return. The drawer in the middle is one drawer over 3' long and about 9" deep. Three false fronts cover the drawer to match the door sizes and provide smoother lines. Hard maple frames around ambrosia maple panels make up the doors. Finish is Bartley's country maple gel stain and 3 coats of General Finish's oil and urethaine mix.
Looks great Greg, nice job.

Nice work. Great finish.
Procrastination.......
Maybe I'll think about that tomorrow
Very nice and creative job on the bathroom, Greg! Almost a flashback for me, as you have the same style doors as I did on our BR project, albeit, I had the Maple for the panels and the Ambrosia for the frames! The false fronts add to the flow quite nicely. Can we assume the larger cabinets have multiple shelves for their...Ahem....Library?

Hi Greg,
Very nice looking cabinets. Your friends are lucky to have a friend with such talent. I'm not familiar with ambrosia maple. What makes maple ambrosia? I have some 3/8" spalted maple that finishes out with tons of depth and character, but this ambrosia looks even more exotic. Thanks for the info. John.
Greg-
As John M alluded to looks like your friends have quite the reading selection as seen in the "before" pix!
BTW- nice job on the BR RM (remodel)- Ambrosia maple is a very interesting choice. I must ask where you found such large panels of AM?

Outstanding. Very nice look and a great idea to use a false front to cover that chase!

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
John,
Ambrosia maple is a product of the ambrosia beetle. The beetle bores it't way into the tree and leaves a trail. It's actually a cheaper maple ($3 per bf or so).
Nice cabinets! Good call on the false front - it looks great!
Very nice project...great design and excelllent crafstmanship!
