    Table Progress

Can't resist posting these. I'm close to being ready to apply shellac - these are with just BLO applied. You may recall I posted regarding a trip to Hearne Hardwoods in PA. The wood is spectacular - makes me smile every time I look at it. The table base is just friction fit together at this point. I will apply finish before glue-up. For the top, I hand-planed, then sanded using and ROS, then scraped. No sanding after scraping the surface. The pictures don't do it justice.

    Hnas,
That is one very nice table! The figure is striking and it looks like it will be an eye grabber even with good food on top of it!!

Wow! Exceptionally nice! Couple of questions...

Is that cherry? And, how thick is your top? Looks to be around 3/4".

    Thanks for sharing, Hans!

I second what Roy said - exceptional. Can't wait to see the finished product. Hearne is fantastic, I was there Saturday drooling all over their stock again.

Yes it's cherry and the top is about 1 1/8" thick. I bevelled undersides about 4" to produce a lighter look. Thanks for the comment!
