    Ebony Twig Pot

Kinda reminds me of art deco - you know, the Maltese Falcon, Sam Spade, etc. Simple in this case, but the plain yet shiny black ebony has kind of a 'film noir' feel to it, to me. About 5" tall, 1 1/2 or so around, and heavy. Not hollowed, just drilled for a simple display. 3 wheel buffed with Ren wax.

Mike, very striking! Might I suggest a single silk dogwood blossom, perhaps a small one, standing on a 1.5" stem? Would make a beautiful contrast in color and form.

That is a beauty. I agree with John on the flower setting it off.

It's nice looking, but I have to disagree with the boys... I see a single red carnation.

Very cool Mike, I think it would look nice with some Pussy Willow in it.

Nice form with simple clean lines. I think it would look great with a single Calla.

  10. Simple yet elegant form with a distinctive shape, and nice finish......way to go Mike!

Nice Mike! Pleasing form and that rich black coloring will showcase any flower you choose to display!

Very nice form and finish. I think just about any proportionately sized flower with a bright color would look great.

Beautiful shape. How does ebony turn as compared to other woods.

Josh, ebony is funny wood. Kinda reminds me of a cross between wood and bar chocolate. The shavings don't really feel like wood, either - kinda soft and moist. Burns easy when drilling, too. Sands pretty well, better at the finer grits, then obviously polishes well. Haven't turned but 3 or 4 pieces, though.
