Shop Cabinets - Pics

I finally got started on my shop cabinets, It seems other projects have always pushed ahead of this one.
My incentive to get going is actually the next project, I had never done raised panels on a router before, previously I had always doen them on a shaper. I have a couple of cabinets to build for my daughter so I decided to make a test run first.

The cabinet is just a plywwod carcas with Red Oak fronts and frame. I haven't completed the finish yet, The weather turned cold and I got impatient watching the oil dry so I decided to hang the thing and finish the finish on a warmer day.



I plan to have several similar cabinets for the shop, this one is just for general storage stuff.



The drawer fronts used to match, until some bozo dropped one , and he had to remake a front.

Nice looking cabinets. What did you do to hang them? Is it hanging on the cleat I see in the picture? Did you use cleats with plywood over them? Hoping to get around to making some cabinets soon too.

The cabinets hang on a french cleat, there will be four cabinets on the wall pictured.
I probably overkilled when I mounted, the cabinet is hung on the cleat, then there are two screws at the top through the cabinet back into the cleat. At the bottom there are two 3" screws at the stud locations.

Jim, thanks..when thinking about the storage needs in my shop/garage, my goal is to keep everything off of the concrete so that I have room to move the bigger mobile tools around. But I also wanted some drawers...I hadn't seen one like this before, so I decided to give it a whirl and see how it works out

When I tried explaining it to my dad over the phone, I said just think of a kitchen lower upside down, with the drawer turned over ..

I didn't mention it before, but the dimensions are 36"w x 40"h x 17 1/4"d, I came up with the odd depth because I needed 16" clear inside.

I know that some folks go pale when they see shop cabinets made of hardwood, not to mention raised panels

But I see it as practice....and I need lots of practice
