    First Corian Project

After reading all that I could find here on the site about corian I decided to do a trophy job in corian. I went to my local countertop supplier and found enough scrap to do the job.
I have someone close to me that has a shopbot so they cut all of the pieces for me from my cad files. I engraved at 60 dpi at 80 power and 100 speed. These are 3 color, so that took some time, so I may not always do that in the future. I made a total of 12 trophies.
The small pieces were glued to the main slab to make the bases. The tallest one is 18" high and the shortest one is 8" high.

I think that I can say that I am hooked on corian.

What's not to like about Corian--you did a GOOD job with it!!! Now, for some real fun resaw it to 1/8" and use the laser to cut out various shapes and inlay into contrasting wooden boxes and then engrave the tops! See you in the spring

Those are EXCELLENT, Larry! Gotta love corian, eh? Your design is so much fun and in keeping with the subject, too. Well done!

Nice design... hope you noticed that "Advanced" was spelled incorrectly before handing them out, though.

Great job, great design! As Dan points out,eye paralysis is one of the hazards of engraving. I can't tell you how many times i've proofed an item only to have my laser mis-spell it.

Don't blame yourself (or the laser) - these problems started when keyboard production moved to China.

Yes I saw the mistake. Just sanded the word off, reengraved, painted and sanded. Can not tell it was fixed.

How you make trophies shapes? Manual or with CNC router?

    Viktor,
The shapes were done with cad and cut with a cnc router.

    Outstanding Larry!!!

I'm a huge fan of Corian plaques and such but I never would have come up with that design - it's perfect!
