    Very strange cutterhead, w/pics.

    Hello everyone,

I have been working on the design of this cutterhead on and off for two years. I finally got it today.

It actually works (Yaaa!, I didn't waste a bunch of money). I am a tool dealer by day and a woodworker by night. I have used/worked on/serviced/sold almost everything out there. I must admit to be a tad scared to throw the switch on my RAS, 'cause I didn't know if my idea would fly.

There is enough info in the pictures to figure out what it is for.

    Let's hear your guesses.

Clint cannot play, 'cause he knows what it is for.

    Thanks for looking,

    David the tool guy.

Need better shots, but first guess? It looks like a running gouge, similar to what a router V-bit might do.

At first when before I look at the full sized pics I thought maybe it was to cut sliding dovetails but it isn't. Hmmm

Beaded face frame cutter, like Kreg is doing with a router setup?

Hard to tell if the angles are 45° from the pic's.

No question, for cutting the mitered haunch on beaded face frames.

(The beaded stock in the photo is a dead giveaway)

Good catch--I didn't notice the bead until you mentioned it.

Why not a magic molder (or similar) with a replaceable insert?

Or build a yoke to hold a big PC router on the RAS arm. My guess is that is one of the cutters from a saw mill's bark removing machine that has been repurposed on the RAS? Hold on tight...here we go.....

Pretty sure that's the blade from a line trencher I rented a while back?
