    Sizing/producing double loose draw wedges

I'm making a small table which will have 2 wedges on each side locking the stretchers into place after they pass between the 2 sides. Pic below, sorry it's a bit fuzzy, but it's getting LATE! One wedge is to enter from each side, laying flat against the side, not vertically as the pic shows them for illustration. I made a pair of test wedges, a bit hit or miss on thickness (too thick at their thickest), and cutting the angled portion on the bandsaw works, but is a bit tedious and not terribly "neat". I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this?
