    tilt wheel on Chaftsman table saw.

    Mine tilt is very hard to turn. I loosen nut, still hard to turn.

    seems likely that the threads on the adjustment rod/s are all gunked up this happens over time and they need to be cleaned occasionally to keep the adjustment mechanism working properly HTH

    You don't mention the model (and I'm not sure about which nut we're talking about) but, many of the Emerson designs (Sears models starting with 113.something) have a lever, just under the table at the front, that locks the tilt position. Part #'s 29 and 30 here (lower right corner):

    Go to your local bike shop and get some spray on dry lube for bicycle chains and spray the worm gear and the teeth on the carriage for the tilt. While you are under the saw spray the raise/lower worm and gear as well. This should be done 1-2 times per year. You might also want to check your motor for oil caps (or plugs) over the bearings and if they are there put in a few drops of oil.

    I have a 34 year old Craftsman table saw. I encounter the same problem. What Don suggests does the trick every time. I think Lee's suggestion for the dry lube is a very good idea.
