    Corel text question

I'm running Corel 12 (installed a few weeks ago) In 11 I used to be able edit
text by clicking on it or in the text edit dropdown. I can still do that, but
the issue I'm facing is it doesn't keep the same font size and charateristics.

    Ex;

    Mr. Joe Awards
    Winner 2010

If I try to edit 2010 to 2009 it comes up like this,
    I'm sure it's something simple

    Mr. Joe Awards
    Winner 2009

    Thanks in advance!

Are you starting at the end of the line and backspace, or are you clicking in the middle, adding your '09, then deleting the '10?

    Marty,

Are you sure it's not like this?

To the best of my recollection, Corel has always done that. But I cannot ever recall it responding like your example. You do see that it is picking up the object's default, right? That is, I'm pretty sure you created the two lines as one text object with the text characteristics of line one and then changed line two to smaller text. If, then, you start your modification at the beginning of line two it picks up the "default." [I'm not saying that's logical, but it's the way CorelDRAW has always worked.]

To resovle: Arrange>Break Text Apart to force each line to be a separate object, having it's own text parameters.

Select the text, hold down control, press 'shift T' then change your text in the little box then click OK..

For as far back as I can remember you could change the text by highlighting the area to be changed and type or select the change you want.

That includes changing fonts, sizes and text.

    Roy,

I do see it's picking the default and yes, it is like I typed it.
I am in the lower case area when I edit it.

When I set the type, I have the default set to TNR 24 point,
then I typically bold the name and rank and increase that to 26 point.
After that is done I size, underline, change font or italisize how
I want it. I do this because of consistancy, it keeps everything
in proportion when I resize as for as the relationship of the point sizing.

    Bill,

It works when I select the text and then bring up the edit box, if I don't
select the text first then I get the results I posted. I could just click on the text
in 11 and it kept the formatting.

    Mike,

That was the way I did it in 11, but when I installed 12 this started to happen.
I unistalled 11 before I put 12 on. I also tried the F8 reset factory defaults,
    but they didn't affect this.

Soooooo...... until I find the cause, Bill, your procedure makes it easiest
    to deal with.

    Thanks all!

did you install all the service packs for 12. I didn't use 12 but there have been service packs for all versions I've had. It seems like most of them seem to deal with text.

    Mike,

No I didn't, they had 12 on sale at the BX for about $20 so I figured
    I'd pick it up.

Thanks for the info I'll see what I can find on the Corel site.

    Glad it worked--just a guess.

If they had any older versions you might want to consider them too as they had great clip art. Especially a lot of military stuff.
