Ideas Requested: cabinet saw side extension and router table design

I have a cabinet saw with a right hand extension with a router lift in it. There is a lot of open space under it. I'd like to add some more storage, have it on wheels, and keep the router lift.

Any plans / ideas out there?

    Thanks in advance.

    that is fantastic!

Question: how do you access the saw guts on the right?

    Answer

I left 1 1/2" between drawers and plastic motor cover.
If I need to access motor, I crank it to 45* bevel and cover will slide right off.
The biggest problem I have now is not having enough accessories to fill up the drawers....but I have a plan for that.
If this is what you have in mind, I can provide more pic's and info.

    Thumbs up

That is a very nice saw cabinet John, and your design seems to have taken everything into account. I need to build something similar, and I am a huge fan of enclosed storage in the woodshop. My goal is to have a cabinet close to every major tool, so as to get the associated accessories and tooling organized and out of harms way. Where I have done this I notice a huge difference in effeciency, and it's a relief not having to blow dust and shavings from attachments.

    Well . . . you asked . . .

I posted more info in a recent similar thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=146997

BTW, does anyone know how to attach pictures that you've already uploaded here?

    Great looking saw setup Brian!
Yeah, that thing where you have to 'link' to previously posted pics, and they show up full size instead of as nicely sized thumbnails like usual, is a real pain! I'll be interested in how to make that work too!

    Very nice saw island Brian!

As for the picture subject, this is what I could find:
    http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=100914
    Go to UserCP > Attachments
    Click Show Thumbnails
Highlight and copy the thumbnail of the picture you want

and paste it into the message you are composing. No image tag required.

    Brian,

What is the foot pedal for?

    Both posts are quite nice.

The foot pedal is for the router.

    Testing the image suggestion . . .

    Thanks!

Here's a thread by Kieth that has a very nice side table/cabinet for TS, that you might find interesting.

That's a good tip on the pics, thx! Unfortunately, it still opens up a new tab/window that way, vs. the nice "popup" that usually happens with picture controls "next...previous" when you first post a pic. That pic control is nice when someone posts multiple pics, the thread stays open underneath and you can browse through the pics... linking to previously-posted pics makes your browser pop over to another window. Meh, just different I guess.
