    Two NE Cherry Bowls

I just finished these two bowls. They were halves of the same log. The first one is 6" diameter and 2 3/4" high. The second is 7" diameter and 2" high. Both have 1/8" wall thickness. They are both glossier than the pictures show, I'm still trying to get this photography lighting figured out.
All comments and critiques welcome. Thanks for looking.

    Nice bowls, Rob.

Rob, I really like what you have done with these. The second is my favorite - at least from the views shown. It seems to be a little more open form, and for a NE, that is my preference. Both are done extremely well, though.

    Ditto

As said by everyone else . . . nice work.

I'd like to add that the grain choice for the second bowl is really neat!

I like the shape of the second. Nice job lining up the grain and getting them thin. Very nice work.

Great job on both. I prefer the form on the second one, but they're both nice looking.

Good job on some beautiful wood! Both are very nice, but the second one I like best.

Nice job on both Rob but I will agree with the others on liking the second one best. Just thinking out loud, but I am new enough to this so that when I split a log in half, I want to use the entire 1/2. So I end up with something like your first one even though I prefer the open look of the second one better. In this case, I'm thinking that the pith was not centered in the tree which resulted in the differences between the two.
So in this case, use the thinner side of the pith for a NE and the other side for a regular bowl. Maybe I just learned something.

Rob those are some nice bowls. Really nicely done. I agree with the others that the second is my favorite.

    Thanks

Thanks for all the positive comments. The shallower bowl is my favorite of the two also.
Baxter- the center of the log was rotted out. These are what was left after cutting the rot away.
