    Twin XMAS gifts for twins

    Hi all,

A couple of years ago I built a little, tiny harpsichord for my eldest grand daughter for Christmas. Sandy has decreed (and I listen) that all of our grand kids must have one. Our twin grand kids are now three years old so this Christmas they are getting these from grandma and grandpa. They are fully functional harpsichords but in a very tiny size. Overall length is about 24". The keys are way too small for an adult to play but perfect for little 3 year old hands.

Thanks for looking and a wonderful holiday season to all.

They are wonderful. I think your wife is right about each grandkid getting one.. I would take that as a supreme compliment. Few people left in this world could achieve your level of skill.
I could cry for the time I've wasted, but thats a waste of time and tears.

    Ernie,
Absolutely wonderful. A little more detail is appreciated...how are the internal pieces made? A kit? Who painted it?

    These look fantastic.

Thank goodness for SMC and wood dough.

Jeff - No kit - these are made from scratch as are all of my harpsichords. I've been building them professionally for 25 years. You can see my latest full-sized harpsichord on this recent post.

My wife Sandy does all of the decorative painting on the soundboard, case exterior, and lids. If you'd like more information on the construction I can give you a link (I don't know if that's allowed here) so just send me a PM.

Thanks to all for your kind words.

    Ernie,

I pray my wife doesn't see this thread or your work. I am not that skilled and if I started now , I couldn't produce anything nearly as beautiful as what you do even with the 2 year headstart on our twin granddaughers.

Very nice! Family heirlooms out of the chute!
