    Boilde Linseed Oil with Waterlox

Can I use boiled linseed oil before topping with Waterlox?

I want to bring out the richness of the wood. Would the Waterlox do this as well as the oil?

    Thanks

I doubt if you would see any difference between wood first given an application of BLO and then Waterlox and one which was finished with Waterlox only. Try it on scrap.

I don't think you would see a difference, either.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.

The only difference I would expect is a distinct lack of blotching by omitting the oil.

Why mix a linseed oil finish with a tung oil finish? Waterlox out of the gate is your best bet!

I've done it on Walnut. No difference. Waterlox has an amber color that is actually even darker than BLO.
