Scott's on target - my bench was made 15 years ago from 125 yr old red oak floor joists that came out of the neighbor's renovation. "Bark & BTR" grade, so my yield was awful, and had a lot of nails to pull, but came out great, and very sturdy bench.
When I started woodworking, I didn't know squat. I have progressed in 30 years - now I do know squat.

They'd make a good bench top. The QS would make great legs for any kind of project.
