Avoiding drips on edges - help

It seems like most of the time I finish vertical surfaces, I end up with a dark line at the bottom where gravity has brought the finish down. I don't mean just large vertical surfaces, even just edges of a table top for instance.

What's the best way to handle this to avoid it? Of course going light with the finish is a good approach, but it can be tough at times. I've thought about using some painters tape on the edges somehow and doing them seperately.

Not sure why you are having this problem... may be too thick of a coat. Try breaking the edge a little with 220 sandpaper a sharp corner may be the cause.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
