G1023 auxiliary miter gauge fence question

I have a grizzly 1023 tablesaw and i want to at times add an auxiliary fence to the miter gauge. I would like to not use clamps since they get in the way. How have others added on to it? here is a pic of the gauge.

I had 2 of those but sold them since I have a Incra. I would drill a hold on each side of that US Pattent sticker and attach screws from the patent sticker side.

I have one, too. I've always wondered what you're supposed to do with the 2 threaded holes on the top...

  4. Drill holes, use screws.

They are used to hold the rod through the side which you use for a stop to cut repetable lengths.

    Yep, +2

(and umm.... how accurate is your miter scale? is that a new alignment technique?)

Yep, holes and screws to start. I evolved (or morphed) to cutting a t-slot in long lengths of aux-fence material and cutting them to length as required. T-bolts go into the t-slot and feed through the holes in the gauge head and get tightened by through-knobs. This allows me to easily slide over for a fresh backer position at will.

Sorry, but I still don't get it. What rod are you referring to?

i never saw this before where did you find that? And the dented degree scale is from a kickback I had a while back. The miter gauge was on my bench behind the saw and a piece of wood came flying back and dented the scale. I was lucky I was standing to the side at the time.

If that was directed at me, it is actually a picture off of ebay. You can find them by shearching for shopsmith miter gauge.
