Corrosion problem - Bosch 1617evsk Router

Has anyone had a problem with corrosion (pitting and scaling) on the Bosch 1617EVSK router? The magnesium motor casing on mine has developed this and results in binding when inserting the router into the bases. Also, when turning the depth adjustment screw, it does not run as smoothly as it should.

    Thanks.

If you take it to an authorized service center they should replace the sleeve for free. I took mine in for a bad switch and they replaced the sleeve without me even asking.

I have had the same problem as you with the magnesium housing and have had the housing and motor cover replaced, only to have the problem return, but as Jim said, Bosch will take care of it. Now they are replacing with aluminum, which should afford a permanent solution.

Thanks for the info, Bob & Jim.

I'll take it in to the Service Centre today & let you know what happens.

I took my router in to the Bosch Service Centre this morning... they will replace the router motor casing at no cost to me. Should have the part in a week or 10 days.

    Thanks for the help!
