Olive Vase/Cedar Vase with glass insert

Here is a cedar vase and another olive vase.

I had a ton of trouble getting the color to come out on the cedar. As of today the wood is much more purple. A few weeks and it'll fade more to red. I happened to like the shape on this cedar piece quite a bit.The cedar has a glass insert but its sunken about 2 inches.

The olive shape I thought was lacking. Need some work on my southwestern style.

    Comment and Critiques Appreciated.

Nice shapes. Love the olive in particular!

Some nice work, Alex! The SW pot is kinda neat - the knot in the side adds a lot of character. I am not sold on the form of the cedar, but it is very well done. Hope you have better luck with cedar/juniper than do I - seemed to want to crack on me.

Really nice pieces Alex. On the Olive wood is it hollowed or is it solid and just drilled? I do like that cedar.

Bernie I hallowed it but the insert is dropped down about 2/3" so the rim is rather thick.

I like them both but I like the cedar best. It would look great with a bigger, taller bunch of flowers.
