Corel X5 help

I am making a world map out of acrylic but am having some problems. I have the outlines of the countries which I want engraved but to cut the outline of the continent. I am having problems doing this as all the lines change to hairline and not just the outline. What am I doing wrong? I attached one file I am using.

This is the age old problem of using vector files of the web or from software. You have a couple of choices.
1.
Convert all the current lines to non hairline and raster them. Then trace the outline of the coutnry with a hairline.

2
Leave them all hair line and break the inside lines apart from the original and set them to a different color and use color maping.

3. Convert all the current lines to different colors and and use color mapping. Add a out line of your choice around the map.
