    Engraving Bamboo Cutting Boards.

I have purchased box of bamboo cutting boards and I am wondering if anyone has any experience lasering these. I have heard of various hardwood cutting boards but not bamboo specifically. Any help appreciated.

I've lasered a few of the Bamboo cutting boards that WalMart sells and they have come out very well. Have even done a couple photos. Settings not much different than other woods I do. Prices are pretty good to. Came out much better than I thought.

I recommend going about half power (50%) and slow speed (25%) for nice dark results. In my experience, if you go fast you'll get lighter-colored sections in the engraving where the grain is different. If you mask it off it will prevent residue on the surface too. Another trick on a laser is to back off the lens so you're out of focus slightly, and it can produce darker engraving as well.
