Great burl and set. Looks like you must have modified your lathe for more swing. Interesting!

Dave, those are some really beautiful bowls!! That burl is/was huge - and nearly perfectly round for bowls. Neat pics - thanks for posting!

Dave, I am with everyone on this and also with Alex on the lathe questions. It looks very interesting at what you have put together there with the indexing wheel etc.

Great job and let us know your secrets,

    Thanks All,
I cored them out with a One Way coring system. My lathe is knowen in these parts as a Dave's Way Lathe. The steel box that the bearings are mounted on is full of sand. I had built my own ways and then I came across the ways and tail stock that I have mounted on the box now. It had been tipped over and the head stock was broken off. I put together the controler, it is 3HP variable speed mortor. 2 speeds on the pullys. The indexing wheel and spindle lock is a chain srocket with a 1/4" dia. rod welded to it, works great. I don't know what it weights but it is heavy. I wanted to build a work horses lathe to turn some of the big timber we have in the Northwest.
