What size motor would you guess is on this machine ?

    Hi,

3Hp ,,,5Hp ? ...I'm trying to work out the amps it'll draw. To see if my breaker will handle it.

Its an old paisley thicknesser. 3 phase.

Its a exceptionally heavy machine. and takes a 610mm cut.

I have had a quick look of it in person , but foolishly failed to check the motor plate, and I'm having trouble contacting the owner to find out.

I'm worried about finding parts for it as well. Do you know of any potential bearing problems I may have ( or anything else ) that may prove difficult to fix with an old machine like this ?

    appreciate any thoughts.

    thanks kindly

    Jake

With that width, a minimum of 5 hp, perhaps 7.5 hp.

Jake, my thicknesser has a lifting eye on the motor, it is that heavy only 3hp. If you are going to run it on the same circuit as the CV then that could lead to issues.
