New black and white cabinet I've started

IMG_0079[1].jpgIMG_0078[1].jpgcurved front cabinet on stand.jpgIMG_0080[2].jpgTo All,

Just wanted to share my latest project. Black Walnut and White Ash.

First I glued up the leg blocks from 4/4 walnut.

Then I cut all the rails and fitted them together using sliding dovetail M & Ts. Then I resawed some thin pieces of ash and laminated them together clamped into a curved form. The solid ash drawer boxes are all hand dovetailed. I made some runners and got them all fitted into the base table.

I moved on to the upper cabinet and build a solid ash carcase using table saw cut dovetails to join the sides to the top and bottom. Photo shows tape clamping the end stile to the end panels.

I've got the door rails glued up and ready for milling.

    Enjoy, Bret

    That's a pretty neat project.

Out of curiosity, how did you join that curved piece of walnut to the ash on the lower section? Looks tricky.

I cut a blind dovetail mortise in the leg and then a dovetail tenon on the end of the rail. I then glued it and secured it with pocket screws instead of clamping. Its quite solid.
