    LV replacement blades

Has anyone put a LV replacement blade into a Stanley #65 block plane?? I'm trying to get an order up to $40 to get the free shipping available right now.....
......yeeaaah, that's how I can justify it.
I love this plane but I'm ready to experience A2 steel!
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I haven't put one in that plane, but it's a low angle plane, and they benefit a lot from a thicker iron. Not so much in terms of the result of the work, but in how the shaving holds together, etc.

If you want to use a 25 degree edge, I'd go with the O1, but if you don't mind using it higher 20s or low 30s (which makes for a better all-around use block plane, anyway), then the A2.

All of LV's irons are good, and assuming it's lapped, they are very very fast to prepare.

    Thanks David,
I usually hone a 28 or so higher micro-bevel on this plane.....mostly I'm looking to get a little more mileage between sharpenings.

I have an O1 in my 60-1/2 and A2 irons in all my bench Planes. Love them all and would highly recommend them.
