Natural Edge Walnut Bench - Little Wing

Latest project is done except for a few more coats of oil. This bench uses Kintaro Yazawa inspired joinery. The butterflies seen on the top of the bench are pillowed, they are carved into the tops of the tenons. The pictures are not the best but they will give you an idea of how the bench turned out.

Stout little bench Dale. And nice work on those butterflies.

Very nice. I really like walnut. One question I have, which is inspired by the fact that I have three small kids, is this bench suitable for every day use, or is more of a "looker". Just curious, either way nice bench.

Thanks Mark! It's an every day user although it was built for display at the 2011 http://www.breastcancershowhouse.org...011/index.html. The large joinery will insure it will be around for many generations of heavy use. With the butterflies on the top being end grain they will be able to take wear very well through the years. After it's display time at the showhouse it will be put into use as intended.
