Anyone know anything about this drill press?

    Hi everyone,
Kind of new here though I've been lurking for awhile. I'm in need of a new drill press and was looking at one of the Grizzly models but after reading some comments about new drill presses I thought I would look around to see what I can find used. I found one but know nothing about it and searching didn't help.

It's a WH model KTF-20,anyone know anything about it?

    Thanks for your time,
    Frank

I'm not sure if this will help much, but a quick google of KTF drill presses shows references to fairly generic models from the '80s. The photos that I came across were bench models. Having said that, most folks seem satisfied with older imported DPs. If the price is right, the spindle doesn't wobble and a drill bit spins straight in the chuck, it should be fine.

KTF's a Taiwan machine, like David said, probably 80s vintage. If you can test it under power and the price is right, get it. You can always sell it again. Don't pay top dollar for it, the legion of Taiwanese machines in hammered metal paint jobs go for average to below average prices.

Thanks for the info guys. Guy is fairly faraway so I won't bother with it if it isn't something really worthwhile... but this is the DP in question...

What do you think of this?

Are the older machines that much better then the newer ones or should I just get something new?

    Again thanks for the help.

Here's another manifacturer I've never heard about but it looks like a quality piece and has some sort of electronic variable speed...

The customer I am whoa's house I am at now has a Clausing basic drill press at his home that I have used. It was not all that expensive and it is awesome. The speed control is a thing of beauty. It is made in Kalamazoo Michigan as an added bonus.
