    Dark Oak TV stand.

I built this for some one down the street. She saw the one I made for our family room and wanted the same style only a little bigger. It is 48" wide and about 36" high. It is oak top, face, drawer fronts and doors and the rest is oak veneer. The back is pine bead board I had left over from the white built in I just did. The finish is a water based dye covered with tinted shellac.

She still has to pick out some drawer pulls. I wish I had pictures of it with the pulls because I think that little touches like that make it stand out more. It came out a little darker than I had originally planned but it looks fantastic. It is my best finish to date. Its new owner clapped her hands and let out a little squeal when she saw it so I know she really likes it. .

    Keith,
Very nice job. I like the clean lines. What color stain did you use?

It is trans tint medium brown dye. I diluted the dye with water. I also made a toner with it in some shellac.

I've never been a big fan of oak but with the dark finish it looks really good.

I feel the same way. I never really cared for oak but the dark stain really makes it look rich. You can see grain but its not wild and you don't see the pores.
