Corel Eraser Tool

I have this happen every once in a while and can't trace it down.

I select my object, then pick the eraser tool and it says "Can'y use
on selected object"

Doesn't say why, any help on this?

If its a vectorized pic the eraser tool will not work. Only on photos jpeg, bitmap and such.

It is a bitmap, sometimes I'll convert to a bitmap again and it works.
It's just benn one of those things that isn't consitant.

Sometimes I'll try to import a file and it say it can't and to use the open command;
I do that and it say's it can't and to try the import command???

Actually someone showed me a while back how to erase vector lines, can remember
off hand how.

I don't have a problem with the eraser in Draw but when I try to use it in Paint it jumps a distance away from where I place the cursor. Does it everytime. Have no idea why or how to fix it. Any ideas?

just a WAG here..
you don't have a graphics tablet nearby, do you?
Just a thought.. sometimes if I forget the tablet is there, it might
interfere with the cursor movement, depending on how close the
pen is to the tablet. It can drive you nuts till you figure that one
out! If the pen gets too close to the tablet, it tries to override
the mouse and can cause erratic and unexpected movement..
and not at all consistent in my experience.
