    aspiire provides modeling tools that will create a 2.5d model from a 2d flat vector, too many times this is taught as 3d yet full animation round is not possibble on a three axis machine, further it will give tools for sculpting and creating 2 rail sweeps for manipulating 3d models. i believe you work in Rhino which at many more $$$$ goes a bit further than this. vcarve pro does not contain these tools

    Rhino is much cheaper than Aspire, but doesn't have any CAM tools.

    gerry how much is the comparable for rhino with out the cam ? if i remeber correctly brandon models his violins with it and machines on a carvewright which means he is using two sided machineing (i think)

    Rhino is $1K, and if you add RhinoCAM, that's another $1K for 3 axis, $2K for 4 axis CAM.

    Brandon uses Lightwave, which is a modelling an animation package. It's $900
