Picked it up last weekend and had some time to unbox and set it up. Huge difference from the Jet 1014. Love the variable speed. Now if it was under 100° I could go out and enjoy it.

Steve, seeing that kind of brings a tear to my eye.There are times I still think about my 46-460. For the money, I personally do not think there is a better lathe out there.
Not that I am not enjoying the larger lathe - but you have one sweet lathe there. It will do just about anything you can throw at it. Have fun!!!

It was a tough desicion. I nearly bought the DVR when Woodcraft had it on sale. I don't turn for a living it's just a hobby so I decided on the Delta. Very smooth running and very quite. I need to run to the borg and pick up some 3/8 bolts to secure it to the top and trim out the front of the top with some oak.

Grats! It is quite a step up from the 1014. What John said. Bang for the buck is there! Just beware that you may have to upgrde to an even bigger lathe.

Steve, you may want to consider getting some rubber grommets to sandwich between the lathe and the countertop - it will help with any vibration you might get at times. The lathe is smooth and quiet, but sometimes what you are spinning is not.Originally Posted by Steve Hayes
