    Band saw search is over

I want to thank everyone who responded to my, 24" Powermatic band saw thread. Yesterday I found an old Davis and Wells 20" band saw that was in need of restoring. I really liked the old cast iron saw. Did I say heavy. So, I decided this was the saw for me. It was disassembled a bit, loaded on a trailer, and it followed me home... I am going to disassemble the saw and restore it completely.

    Thanks again for everyones input.

    Sam

Now that is going to make a great band saw, I really like the gauge for the tension, it looks really cool.

Make sure you post some shots when you get it all done.

Good score Sam. Once you go cast iron it's hard to go back. Take a good look at the tension spring. The one on my y20 snowflake had gotten pretty weak so I replaced it with an Iturra spring had it made a huge difference. Those saws are capable of pretty good tension if the spring is good. Saw looks to have a nice size table as well. Dave
